Out of Space?

I've been attempting to post some photos lately, and Google now tells me I've used all my allotted space, and I must purchase more space on their servers to post more photos!

What's up with that?

I figured I'd see if others had this issue, and what did you do about it?

Previously I went back and deleted some photos from the blog to fix this problem...but this takes time.

To me, blogging is a way of sharing information with people that have the same interests or have had the same problems.  I've gotten so much guidance from others here, and I hope that I have provided guidance to others, too.

And then, of course, my problem is always time.  I don't post on the blog nearly as much as I'd like because I just don't have much time to spare.

And now if I have to pay to blog, well, I just don't see that happening....

I just don't get that. I wonder if it's some kind of glitch? I've had my blog since 2005 and as you know, it's FULL of photos and I've never had this issue. But I've heard of other people who have, so I'd like to see what they have to say!!

Whoa! That seems like a scam of some sort . . . it's not happened to me . . . yet!

I dislike this new blogger format, why can't they leave well enough alone. I have heard of this problem, I am not sure what the remedy is, perhaps down loading pictures on an external hard drive to free up some space? If you find the cure, please share as I am sure it will effect us "bloggers" at some point. Good luck, Julie.

The issue is exactly what Natalie showed in the below thread:

All photos for Blogger are stored in Picasa and we only get 1 GB free storage on Picasa. I haven't figured out the answer yet.

I had this happen on my blog once. I paid the five dollars to Google to enlarge my space, didn't renew when the fee came around the second time and have been fine adding photos.

I had to buy space. It irked me to death but it is hardly anything it is 2.49 a month It is so cheap and as I figured that I do use it so much I could pay. I have never had any kind of problems since. I know that it is happening slowly but I think it will all go to that. I have so much more space than I did before and I think it will take me at the rate I am going 5 years to use up the space they are selling me.
Who knows if I will be blogging then and I can cancel at any time.
I hope that helps.

Hi Lynn. I have the same problem, only it's not with the pictures I post, it's with my profile picture. I try and change it and download a different one from my pictures, and it tells me I have no more room for storage. I tried deleting some of my Picasso pictures, but that didn't help at all. Let me know if you figure this out. I will go check out the link that was posted too.

Part of the problem is new digital cameras. They take pictures in Megabytes. Often thousands of Megabytes. If you can turn down the Megapixel setting on your camera, you will still get good shots and they will be in the hundreds of k bytes instead.

Try Photobucket or Webshots. They are free online albums. You will have to play around figuring out how to link to them, but that will let them host your pictures and not Google /Blogger /Picasa.

I ran into this problem last year. Before I figured out about linking from an online album, I deleted some older pictures and changed the setting on my camera. I haven't used one megabyte since then.

Hope the links work. If not, just type them into a google search and it will take you right to them. Good luck!

Photo size is an issue. I always edit my photos in Photoshop, down to 75 - 100DPI. That helps!

LindaG - Thanks for the photo hosting sites. I will have to check them out - I think that'll be the answer to my issues. I just have to make the time...
