4 Eggs in 4 Days at 4 Months?

Now that I've decided that my little 4 month old pullet, Zoner, is laying eggs, I've gotten 4 eggs in 4 days.  She's laying more eggs than my mother hen!

Zoner back on 8Jan10

Here's the weights on the little eggs I've found in my chicken coop:
Feb 7 ~ .9 oz
Feb 8 ~ 1 oz
Feb 9 ~ 1 oz
Feb 10 ~ 1.1 oz

So, here's a question for all the chicken pro's out there ~ Is it normal for a young pullet to start laying like this?  I thought the hens would be much more sporadic when they first started laying, and eventually work their way up to an egg a day.

Or is more than one of my pullets laying?

I believe they go in cycles like all females do. It is not unusal for the first and last egg in a cycle to be off size.

Congratulations. I see lots of omelets in your future.

Hmmm, Lynn, not a chicken pro, but when my girlies started laying it was sporadic. In fact, there are a few of my girlies who still don't lay everyday. Hint, it is the Mottles Houdans!! Go figure! Ha Ha My best guess is there is someone else laying an egg for you!!! And the detective work begins again.

Gail - yes, I see lots of omelets in my future, too! I just love getting eggs!

Cindy - I think you're right, I think more than one of my girls is laying. I've been watching, and see alot of little ladies spending time in the nest area.

Our girls started laying at almost exactly four months, and really they were pretty productive from the get-go. And now they have just reached full maturity and are egg-laying machines. ;)

Knatolee - Wow! My hens are now about 4.5 months old, and I'm getting about 3 or 4 eggs daily from the 12 pullets. I'm impressed! I didn't expect the babies to start laying till spring or summer! I have an older hen who lays maybe 3 or 4 eggs/week. She's at least a couple years old, but I don't think she'll keep up with the pullets...
