Wild Asparagus & Mushrooms

The other day I took a walk out in one of our front fields to check on our wild aparagus.  We have 2 different asparagus patches - the small one is out in a front field by an apple tree & the much larger patch is out back in a field.  Here's the asparagus small patch - it's only 2 stalks!  In late summer we let the asparagus go to seed to promote new growth in the spring.

After looking at the asparagus I walked through the field & almost stepped on what I thought was a golf ball.  When I looked closely I realized it was a mushroom!

Oh, I like that mushroom. I always have to stop and look at the ones that pop up around our place. I feel very jealous as I haven't encountered one that looked like yours yet. :)

What a strange mushroom. There is such a variety of them......
The first time I came across a Puffball, I was kicking them--my neighbor was horrified-she loved to eat them. Oh well-lesson learned.
Do you know if this is poisenous?

The lacey fern look of the light green asparagus is beautiful and I love that 'golf ball' mushroom. Nice post Lynn!

I've been contemplating planting asparagus. Very cool that you have it growing wild.

Great photos.

Jalynn - yes, I love the lacy fern look of the asparagus, too!

Leigh - I think people planted the asparagus long ago, just in the past decade or so (maybe longer) it wasn't maintained. We keep finding lots of really neat things that shows this house/property was a nice farm long ago.
