Kitchen Corner

I haven't been blogging lately on the happenings around the farm because I've been busy baking. Anyone who knows me knows I love to bake! between my job and the farm, it seems I just don't have much time left to do what I enjoy. So, this autumn, I've decided to try to make more time for my kitchen creations.

I thought I'd share just a few things I've baked in the past month...

Orange cupcakes with pink icing

Autumn colored cupcakes for someone leaving my office

Chocolate cake with buttercreme icing made up at my Mother's house ~
without all the baking supplies!  It was a group effort by my Mother, my sister, Barbara, and I

Halloween cupcakes for work. They were carrot cake and orange cake (not together!) cupcakes

More Halloween cupcakes!

Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookies made last night

Right now I'm thinking I want to bake some bread next...

Lynn, yum! I wish I worked with you. Your post has made me want to bake some cupcakes myself! I promised my BIL that I'd make him a fruitcake. I'm not crazy about them myself but I want to make him one for the holidays. It seems like the only time I really bake is during the holidays, but I love doing it then. Your cookies look so good. On second thought, it's a good thing I don't work with you or I'd weigh a ton! LOL! Guess what? I have a job interview with your org this Tuesday!! I'm so excited.

Thanks to your comment on my blog I've found and enjoy yours!

Your cupcakes are gorgeous, I love the piped colorful frosting...I'm drooling over the thought of biting into one of them. I love to bake too, just don't have the occasion to share, besides potlucks, since retirement.

Next you will be telling us that you don't have time to blog because you are too busy working out to lose all the weight you gained from baking....

I would write more but I have to run downstairs and get some ice cream!

Good grief, I had to check what blog I was on, because for a minute there I thought I had clicked on Bakerella by mistake!

Your frosting is absolutely gorgeous. I need to learn to do frosting all swirly like that.

Oh My! Yummy! I like baking also. But just not enough time, and hubby doesn't like sweets all that much. So I end up eating it all.

I just had to leave you a comment, that makes me so happy that you like those kinds of things too. I always think we would have a lot more enjoyable time if we paid attention to the real people in the Bible. Yes, I am always sadly disappointed because I never can find a church like that either. I wish I could. My kids have all had to listen to me because they have been my only audience. Now that almost all of them are grown they show me things they have dug out.
I will keep digging and sharing because I do think it is so fun.
So thanks for your lovely comment it encouraged me so much.

Kim, If we lived closer to each other...

Genny - I always eat so many sweets when I get in these baking moods. In the past month I've gained 10 pounds! Then I go on an exercise spree and start running again and eat nothing but salads and veggies to get back in shape. (My husband is very patient eating only veggies every night!) I've just lost 8 pounds by doing that. I have been very busy and haven't been to this blog page in a few days - I will email you about the job interview! I need to know all the details!!!! Exciting!!!!!! :)

Amy - I had those choc chip cookies for breakfast a few days! The choc cake was especially good because of the buttercreme icing - I'll have to make that combo again. I'm always trying different combinations...

Robin - Thank you!

California Grammy - I know what you mean, I have to take all my goodies into work to share them. Otherwise, I'd be eating way too many!

Terry - I'll have to figure out how to send cupcakes thru the mail!!

Chai Chai - You are absolutely right! I have had to spend extra time working out! But exercise always makes me feel so good, and less guilty about all the baking and eating!

Gail - Thanks!! :D

Julie - I agree, baking does make me happy!!

NetRaptor - If i baked more, I'd love to start a baking blog! I could share baking tips and tricks online! What a great idea you've given me!!

Danni - I made the choc chip cookies because I saw yours and was craving them so badly!! You started it!! How'd your 1M tip work out??

Knatolee - They like my baking! I need to bake more for them.

Lisa - I know what you mean, my hubby doesn't like sweets too much, either. He always complains when I bake ("You're not baking again, are you? We haven't eaten all the cookies you made 2 days ago!") But I've started giving it away to friends and co-workers. And I've been encouraging him to take my sweets into his work, and he's starting to like that...

Kim - Thanks for sharing the Bible history. I am glad I encouraged you, your post really encouraged me, too. I have always wanted to take a class on Bible history. the closest I came to it was back in college a religion class was offered and fit my schedule, but the class got full and I wasn't able to take it. I was very disappointed. I will stay posted to your blog for updates!!! Thank you!

Ron - I have been away from the blogging world for a few days, but I'm back today & will go check out your blog now!

John gray - Cupcakes in a flower show? Cupcakes are just little cakes. Do tell about your flower show!
