  1. I know it's not good to envy people- especially one's sister, but I always do envy you for your early crops!! LOL!

  2. Very nice produce! I picked my first zucchini and set it down to look for more, when I noticed the dog throwing it up and catching it, when I tried to get it she ran off, so maybe today another I will get another one. :)
I was going to tell you about chicks, I learned the hard way, chicken book says if the eggs haven't hatched after a couple of days, you need to destroy them, ( I couldn't do it.) The book says the chick will be weaker and will have birth defects.
I let mine hatch, it was so hot hear at the time, they hatched without the hen sitting on them.
The chicks that hatched, one died upon getting out of the shell and the next one died because its legs wouldn't work. The third the hen killed.
I should have did what the book said but just couldn't. I hope yours hatch soon.
    Your chicks are so lovely.

  3. Barb, I didn't get much from the garden, no reason to be envious! Just some cukes and a squash yesterday! Today I got a very small tomato, more beans, and a couple peas. It's really not that impressive since SOMETHING is coming into the garden and eating everything. I think it's a woodchuck.

Farm Girl, That's funny about the dog stealing your zucchini! You'll get more before you know it!

The 2 extra eggs that did not hatch were pushed away and discarded by Zoner 2 days after the 5 babies hatched. We took them inside & slowly cracked them open. One did not develop at all, one was a dead chick. It appeared to have been dead a few days. Guess it wasn't strong enough to hatch.

Thanks for your info - it's great to be able to get info online from people who have experience!
